Hearts of Gold Pet Services

Pet Sitting and Dog Walking

A bit about Hearts of Gold Pet Services and owners Ken Markert and Lauren Bishop-Markert

Hearts of Gold Pet Services was launched in Portland, Oregon in 2008. The owners, Ken Markert and Lauren Bishop are a husband and wife team. In Portland, it was a full-time, seven days a week, thriving business, but they desired a move to dry, warm weather and to be closer to family. Lauren's entire family resides in Tucson and she wanted to return to her home town. So, in June, 2016 they relaunched their pet sitting and dog walking business in Oro Valley, Arizona.

Ken and Lauren are passionate about all animals, but especially dogs and cats. They are Certified Professional Pet Sitters through Pet Sitters International, the largest pet sitting organization in the world. They have volunteered for the Oregon Humane Society, the American Cancer Society's Bark for Life events, Best Friends Animal Society's Strut Your Mutt events and Ken served on the Board of Directors for Clackamas Dog Foundation in Portland. They give financial donations to over a half dozen animal-oriented organizations each year.

Hearts of Gold Pet Services sponsored and organized a very successful annual holiday pet food drive for SnowCap Charities in Portland and with the community's involvement, they have delivered 27,132 pounds of pet food over the last 7 years.

Ken and Lauren are former aerospace workers for Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, Canoga Park and Santa Barbara. Ken's degree is in Photography. Lauren's degree is in Communications from the University of Arizona and she's a graduate of Canyon del Oro High School in Oro Valley.
